چکیده

peptide that specifically stimulates both synthesis and secretion of pituitary GH [1]. GRF is released into the hypophyseal-portal vessels under control by a variety of neurotransmitters and neuropeptides. After reaching the pituitary, GRF binds to its specific receptors [1] on somatotrophs and generates bursts of GH secretion episodically [2]. Earlier ligand-binding and functional studies in rats have shown that GRF down-regulates its own receptors in the pituitary [3, 4], but the mechanisms of down-regulation remain to be fully determined. We investigated how GRF regulated its own receptors at the gene expression level and report here evidence indicating that GRF receptor mRNA levels are upor down-regulated in vivo in the absence or presence of GRF, respectively.

Paeoniflorin regulates the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis negative feedback in a rat model of post-traumatic stress disorder

Objective(s): To investigate the effects of paeoniflorin (PEF) on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis feedback function of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). cSingle-prolonged stress (SPS) was used to establish a PTSD-like rat model. The contents of plasma corticosterone (CORT), adrenocorticotropin hormone (ACTH) and cortic...

Growth hormone releasing factor, somatocrinin, releases pituitary growth hormone in vitro.

Purified (rat) hypothalamic growth hormone releasing factor (GRF), native human GRF isolated from an islet cell tumor of the pancreas that had caused acromegaly, and the synthetic replicates of the human material are potent secretagogues of immunoreactive growth hormone (GH) by primary cultures of rat pituitary cells. Native or synthetic peptides give identical dose-response curves, with identi...

Gender Difference in P Factor ( GRF ) Receptor ituitary Growth Gene Expression Hormone - Rel in the Rat easing

GH-releasing factor (GRF) is the hypothalamic peptide that stimulates both synthesis and secretion of GH. The GRF signal is transduced to somatotroph cells through pituitary GRF receptors and generates episodic bursts of GH secretion into the bloodstream. Secretion of GH is highly sexually dimorphic, particularly in the rat [1]. In female rats, GH surges are of lower amplitude and occur more ir...

Structures, Functions and Expressions of GnRH and GnRH Receptor in Peripheral Reproductive Organs and Their Regulation by Estradiol-17β

Studies have shown that estradiol-17β (E2) regulates gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and GnRH receptor expression in hypothalamus and pituitary. Several studies have shown that GnRH and its receptor are also expressed in peripheral reproductive organs and little is known about their regulations. In this study, GnRH and GnRH receptor structures, functions, their peripheral expressions and ...

Growth hormone-releasing factor regulates growth hormone mRNA in primary cultures of rat pituitary cells.

A peptide with high intrinsic activity for specifically stimulating the secretion of immunoreactive growth hormone (GH; somatotropin) has been characterized and reproduced by total synthesis. This peptide, human pancreatic growth hormone-releasing factor, 44-amino-acid form (hpGRF1-44-NH2), was isolated from a tumor localized in the pancreas of a patient with acromegaly. We report here the effe...
